Hunkydory Cards

Hello folks. Thanks for stopping by.  I bought a magazine the other day which had some Hunkydory products enclosed.  I hesitate to say "free" products because we are certainly paying for them one way or another.  Anyway I opened the pack last night and here are the first couple of cards I made.

My Cards

The toppers and papers are from the Girly Surprise set. The first one is a 5" x 7" base card cut from my own card. Apart from matting the topper onto silver mirri card, stamping a little label and adding the ribbon everything else was in the pack.

The second card is a 5" x 7" Papermania stepper card and the cardstock is good quality. Again I matted the topper onto silver mirri but the rest was in the pack so very easy and quick.  At this rate my box will fill up nicely.  I am never sure how to take a good picture of these stepper cards so on the last picture I folded down the step to show the main part.

Well that's it for today.  Hope this finds you all well.

Black And White Lady

Hello everybody.  Thanks for stopping by today. Well there is no rain this morning and no frost, yet it feels much colder than other mornings.  I would say it was the wind chill factor - but no wind either. Ah well, just have to get on with it. Did my shopping yesterday so I have no need to go out specifically.

I don't know what has happened to the picture of Lia's blog candy on my sidebar. I tried reducing the size but it wouldn't so I actually removed it. But as you can see the picture is still there yet when I go into Layout is not there, so I'm not sure how I can get rid of it.  Blogger is really going nuts at the moment isn't it?

I bought a couple of sheets of decoupage a few years ago but unfortunately I must have cut off the bit that had the name on so I can't tell you where it is from.  I actually only cut one extra layer for the hat.  I matted it onto black card and mounted it onto a 5" x 7 " card base.  The black spotted ribbon is from Hobbycraft and the pearls are from my stash.  I rather like the stark simplicity so to keep it simple I decide to raid my stash of peel offs for the sentiment.

Hope you all have a good day.

A Little Bird

Good morning friends and fellow bloggers.  Thanks for your visit today.   I would love you to leave a comment so that I know you have been.  Hope everybody is fit and well and raring to go!

My Card

This card is for my nephew's wife and her birthday is in a few days time.   I have kept it fairly flat because I was giving it to the postman when he called.  It saves me making a journey to the post office, but obviously I need to know exactly what postage to put on it and so it was easier to have a flat card.

My usual 6" x 6" card base made from A3 card.  I prefer to make my own card base because I find the bought ones are just not heavy enough.  Ideal at Christmas though. The papers are LOTV Petal Fresh and matted onto blue pearlescent card from my snippets box.  The topper is from Little Claire Designs.  I was going to mount it onto a fancy SB die but then decided that I actually like the clean geometric lines with just a few pearly embellishments.  Makes it look quite fresh - just as the papers say! It does what it says on the tin - to quote the old advert!  The piece of organza ribbon was another snippet too.

Well that's it from me.

Hope you all have a good day and manage to fit in some crafting.

Christmas Card Club No 2 - "Cooking Up A Storm"

Good morning.  I am looking out of the window at a lovely blue sky with white clouds and sun - unfortunately away in the distance the sky is grey and overcast and heading this way. Having said that, we have a view which takes in about 30 miles, so here's hoping it will be a while before it comes.

This morning is our second challenge for our little Christmas Card Club.  Every other week one of us chooses a topic and we make a Christmas card so that we can build up a stock before December.  This time it was Lizzie's turn and she chose " Cooking Up A Storm."

My Card

My card is actually 7 " x 7" this time so that I could make use of the lovely SB Opulent Ovals die without it being too crowded.  The two different holly papers are actually vellum so you can see the lovely pale gold pearlescent card that it is mounted on.  Although it 's not visible in the photo I used Pans Pastels pale gold to take away the stark whiteness on the sentiment stamp and the oval die.  The digi image is from The Paper Shelter.

Well that's it from me.  Hope you are all well.

Pink And White Roses

Hello everybody.  Hope you are all well.  A little warmer today, thankfully, although rain is forecast later.  To be honest, unless it comes down and forgets to stop, I don't actually mind a little rain.  It all helps to keep our wells functioning!!

My Card

I folded white card stock to make a 7" x 5" card base. I ran some pink bazzill card stock through the Grand Calibur using SB M-Bossabilities Framed Petite Labels embossing folder. The roses are WOC and the white leaves are Cheery Lynn's Wreath Strip.  You have probably realised that I love this particular die - I certainly use it enough!  The spotted ribbon is from Crafty Ribbons, which I won from them last year, and the pearls are from Hobby House. The quality of the ribbon is superb. And there you have it.

See you all again soon - hopefully!

Krafty Krismas

Good afternoon dear friends and fellow bloggers. I haven't done very well with my crafting so far this year so I do hope things pick up soon.   I don't think I'm alone because as I have been wandering around blog land from what I read I think a number of people are not quite up and at it with their usual vim and vigour.

I got so behind with my Christmas cards last year that I decided this year that would definitely not happen again.  I resolved that I would make at least one card every week - more if possible - and I have made a start.  Now I must just keep the momentum going!

My cards are 7" x 5" kraft cards which I bought from Hobbycraft.  The papers are "Handmade Holidays" from   Simple Stories.  This is my go-to pad when I am using kraft card.  I just love it.  They are very simple and flat making them cheap to post, yippee! The poinsettias are WOC and the little star gems are from my stash and have been there forever I think.

Hope this finds everybody well.  A little warmer here today thank goodness but miserable and drizzly.

Laughter

Good morning everybody and hope you are all well.  My goodness it was so bitterly cold yesterday! The coldest we have had so far I think, because there was an east wind too which lowered the temperature even more.  Anyway I kept busy crafting!

My Card

I cut my 7" x 5" base card from lilac pearlescent card.  The next layer is from the "Time Flies" collection by Craftwork Cards.  I stamped the image in Cocoa Brown Memento ink onto cream pearlescent card.  I tried black and purple but both were too harsh so I settled for the brown.  Stamping onto pearlescent card turned out to be not such a good idea because the image isn't sharp and it is such a shame because it's a lovely stamp.  It is rather difficult to see, because the photo is so bad, but the background of the stamp is striped and I coloured the stripes with Promarkers.  I matted this onto the largest die from SB Decorative Label 8 using the same lilac card.  The flowers are the large and medium rose dies from Britannia and the leaves are Cheery Lynn Wreath Strip.  Pearls and organza ribbon tied into a double bow finished it off.

Well that's it from me.  I hope you all have a good day.

At Last - A Card!

Good morning friends. Well I have finally managed to finish a card.  I have made a few starts over the last few days but this is the only one I have actually finished.  Hopefully this might finally break the block.

My Card

I have used the die that the lovely Ang, aka Mrs Duck, sent me as part of my "Paddle Prize". You can find her blog HERE. The die is A2 Fancy Weave from Spellbinders.  My card is 7" x 5" cut from white cardstock, and I die cut the largest two dies from the same card. I'm not sure where the spotty paper is from because it is from my snippets box. I also die cut the HeartFelt Creations Delicate Asters from Bazzill basics pieces, also from the snippets box. The sentiment is from JustRite Stamps Grand Sentiments and stamped with a purple pigment ink from Hobbycraft. The pearly sprays are Zva which I bought from the Ribbon Girl.

I shall endeavour to use some more of the lovely things that Ang sent me soon. Hope this finds you all well and nobody has been flooded. This weather is pretty horrendous, and there is still more to come! Keep safe and dry!!

Festive Fun - CCC challenge No 1

Hello, today I am posting a card for our little Christmas Card Club, which we do every second week. Today it is Sylvie's choice and she kindly gave us "Anything Goes".  Probably just as well because my mojo is obviously still enjoying the holiday season and my mind is practically a blank canvas. Unfortunately it is staying blank too!

My Card

I have made a very simple card using an LOTV topper "Festive Fun" and matted onto an SB Scalloped Circles. The sentiment is Little Claire Designs "Christmas Sentiment" stamp and die cut with SB Lacy Circles The backing paper is from "Special Delivery" pack by Helz Cuppleditch and although it doesn't show in the picture it is nicely glittered. The poinsettias are WOC and the ribbon and pearls are from my stash.

Well, here's hoping my my mojo returns soon!  I received my gorgeous "paddle prize" which I won from Mrs Duck. It includes a beautiful die and if that doesn't give me some inspiration nothing will!! So watch out in the next day or two (or three!). Thank you again Ang.

Hope this finds you all well and creative.

Pink Origami Flapbox

Hello dear friends and fellow bloggers, and a Happy New Year to you all.  For many of us last year was rather trying, to say the least, so I hope for a happy and healthy 2014 for us all!

My mojo is still on holiday I think.  I spent ages in my craft room yesterday and all I managed to do was break the handle on my Grand Calibur!!  However my fairy godfather (aka John!)  has managed to fix it but I will have to be careful from now.

I made various little boxes coming up to Christmas so that I would have something available should we have unexpected visitors.  Since I didn't use them all, and since I didn't use Christmas papers on them,  I now have some little stockpiled gifts.  I will keep popping them onto the blog.

This one is a flap box and I made quite a lot of these last Easter and put some mini chocolate eggs in, but they will hold all sorts of things from chocolates to small gifts.

This is picture heavy I'm afraid.

My Project

Flap box complete with belly band

Two views of the decorated belly band

 Very plain without the band

Another view of the completed box

You don't actually need a belly band because one side of the top slips inside the other for closure. The band is purely decorative.  I cut it from ivory card stock and trimmed Martha Stewart punch and added a  length of spotted grosgrain.  I cut one pink and one ivory SB large Venetian motifs and Cheery Lynn Wreath Strip leaves. A few pearls finished it.  I forgot to take a picture of the open box but if you check out the tutorial you will see it there. It is made from one piece of 12 x 12 cardstock and the space inside measures 4 x4 inches square and the depth is approximately 1½inches.

You can find the tutorial  HERE on Becca Feekin's "Amazing Paper Grace".  If you are not familiar with her work you are missing a treat.

Well that's it for today.
